Between 8am - 8pm today Girl Does Geek will be taking part in the internet blackout alongside sites such as Google, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter & Wikipedia. The protest is against the SOPA bill being proposed in congress on January 24th. If passed this bill threatens our internet freedom and will pass the power to big corporations. They will have the means to close down sites without any recourse for the owners of those sites. Its potential for abuse of power is immense and we all must make a stand.
While it will be a US law it will effect us all. Particularly for bloggers on Blogger or any other US based host or hosting platform.
