CES - What Can We Expect?

CES

On Tuesday the 10th January the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show arrives in Las Vegas. For those who aren't tech obsessed like myself CES is an annual show attended by some of the world's top electronics brands. It is a chance for them to launch and exhibit their upcoming releases. It is attended by the likes of Sony, Microsoft, LG, Nokia etc. It is attended by more than 140,000 people and 2,800 brands will be exhibiting there. Next year I hope to attend myself as it is a tech geek's dream.

Two particular products that are expected to launch there are the new XBox and the Playstation 4. I am particularly excited to see what developments Sony have made with The Playstation. The PS3 was almost like a gaming PC so i'll be interested to see if they carry on developing it to achieve PC like capabilities.

Microsoft will attend but this will be their last year as they've announced that from next year they won't be attending. So I expect a great keynote speech from them, one that is fitting for their last show. They'll also be talk of Windows 8 which will be the successor to the fairly new Windows 7.

Like last year this year will see the launches of a lot of tablets. Apple may be dominating in this area but there are plenty of brands ready to steal their crown. Whether they deliver the quality and design to rival the iPad2 remains to be seen.

We'll also be seeing developments in the smartphone sector. Windows will be showcasing their windows phone but Nokia and LG will also be there trying to wow us with their latest models. Sony Ericsson are set to unveil their first dual core smartphone but will it be worth the wait?

One thing is for sure CES 2012 is sure to be exciting for the tech obsessed among us and you can guarantee that i'll be covering the highlights when the event starts on Tuesday. Stay tuned!
