Computer heavyweights Microsoft are taking on the British electrical superstore Comet. The US brand is suing the retailer for selling unauthorised Windows CDs.
Comet allegedly created more than 90,000 fake Windows recovery disks after Microsoft stopped supplying new machines with the disks. Comet's defence is that they were doing what was in the best interests of their customers. But Microsoft insists that Comet sold them in stores after producing them in their own factory. Customers were unaware of the issue and it comes as a huge shock to the UK Electrical retail sector. Microsoft have long been fighting a war against the counterfeiting of their products. All of this doesnt bode well for Comet's reputation as many expect better from one of the UK's leading retailers.
