It is yet to be released in the UK but already it is tipped to achieve sales figures to rival the iPad.
Its biggest selling point is the fact that it'll cost half the price of the iPad. An iPad2 retails at £399 while the Kindle Fire's expected to sell for £199. Not only is it substantially cheaper than an iPad but it's also lower priced than other tablets on the market. The fire's big draw will be its access to Amazon's massive library of content. It isn't the lightest tablet out there at 431g but it still weighs less than half a kilo.
The fire has a 7 inch screen, 1024x600 touchscreen and is run on Android 2.3. Amazon purchases can be stored and streamed via their cloud. The Fire's silk browser loads pages quickly.
So that's all the good stuff, so what are the negative aspects of the Kindle Fire?
Limited RAM - only 512 MB of ram here which isn't a huge amount. Video quality has also been compromised a little to keep the price low.
Negatives aside the Kindle Fire is a neat little device with a budget price point. As one of those who just can't justify an iPad purchase but I'm seriously tempted by the Kindle Fire. It does everything I require of a tablet and is likely to come in at under £200. The price alone will make it a bestseller especially for the legions of Kindle fans out there. Apple watch out!
